Pharmacological analysis in experimental lung fibrosis performed by MRI

چکیده
Introduction: Edema and collagen deposition are processes involved in the inflammatory response, which are fundamental to wound-healing [1]. Despite their diverse symptoms and etiologies, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as well as many other forms of pulmonary pathologies, share the common features of airways remodeling and excess collagen deposition [2]. The mechanisms behind such changes are not entirely clear. Furthermore, the relationship between inflammation and fibrosis is complicated by the fact that although fibrosis may develop concomitantly or subsequently to inflammation, the real causal relationship between the two remains unknown [2,3].

Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) versus Conventional Chest Physiotherapy in Pediatric Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Cystic Fibrosis
Background Pulmonary involvement is the main cause of mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF). Airway clearance techniques are non-pharmacological complement options for CF patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the short-term outcome of airway cleaning treatment in patients with cystic fibrosis in a children's hospital. Materials and Methods This clinical trial study conducted on 40 CF pati...
متن کاملProtective Effect of Grape Seed Extract against the Fibrogenic Effect of Bleomycin in Rat Lung
Many studies have been performed for treatment or prevention of pulmonary fibrosis. However, no effective treatment has been found yet. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of grape seed extract on bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis in rat. Hydroalcoholic extract of grape seed (Vitis vinifera) was prepared using maceration method. NMRI rats weighing 250-300 g were given...
متن کاملEffect of thalidomide on the alveolar epithelial cells in the lung fibrosis induced by bleomycin in mice
Introduction: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a relentlessly progressive and usually fatal lung disease of unknown etiology for which no effective treatments currently exist. In the adults type I and II pneumocytes, forms Components of the alveolar epithelial cells. In this study, we investigated the effect of thalidomide on the alveolar epithelial cells (type I and II pneumocytes) in ...
متن کاملFunctional analysis in single-lung transplant recipients: a comparative study of high-resolution CT, 3He-MRI, and pulmonary function tests.
OBJECTIVE To develop and evaluate a postprocessing tool to quantify ventilated split-lung volumes on the basis of (3)He-MRI and to apply it in patients after single-lung transplantation (SLTX). High-resolution CT (HRCT) was employed as a reference modality providing split air-filled lung volumes. Lung volumes derived from pulmonary function test results served as clinical parameters and were us...
متن کاملMRI as a non-X ray based imaging alternative to study experimental lung fibrosis induced by bleomycin in rats
Introduction: Computerized tomography (CT) is the standard imaging technique to examine the human lung. At the preclinical level, micro-CT has been shown to be useful in characterizing anatomical changes related to lung fibrosis models in rats [1]. However, radiation doses are an issue both in the clinics and in experimental studies, and repetitive measurements are limited. Recent clinical acti...
